label on fire: fueled by ramen

So, FBR has been quite busy, what with the release of twenty one pilots and Nate Ruess' new albums on the horizon, and ParaHoy about to begin. They have, over the years, proved themselves to be solidified in the music world, ready to diversify and move along with the tide that is the music industry.

They signed bands with varying sounds like Fall Out Boy and fun. and although FOB has since moved on, they continuously prove themselves to be a label that knows what's what and how to move on from what their niche. Many other labels have been broken up because their niche just wasn't "in" anymore.

FBR has been around since 1996 and they only continue to grow stronger. The name is from when the original founders- John Janick and Vinnie Fiorello could not afford to buy much food and existed mostly on ramen noodles because they spent most of their money making records. These men would eventually go on to release albums like FOB's Take This To Your Grave, fun.'s Some Nights and Paramore's Riot! and the respect I have for them cannot be quantified.

FBR is now headed by Mike Easterlin, as John Janick is now the CEO of Interscope Records. The ability to transition is important in the music business and I try to remember that everyday. These men are the reasons I can.

FBR's currently signed artists include: Paramore, Cobra Starships, Oh Honey, Nate Ruess, twenty one pilots, amongst others. Also, quite recently signed is a band of YouTube fame: Against the Current. Alumni include: Fall Out Boy, Rome, Versa.

I look at old FBR (pre-2010) and new FBR (post-2010) and I marvel at the ability to adapt to the music scene as it changes without actually totally revamping the label and making it completely unrecognizable. FBR will always have the emo-pop and pop-punk background, but they remain relevant because they didn't hold fast to the genres they were known for, neither did they compromise anything along the way (at least I hope they didn't).

I love FBR now and hopefully forever.
