let boyhood seize you

This is Ellar Coltrane.

He stars as Mason Evans Jr. in the Oscar-nominated film Boyhood, a movie shot over the course of 12 years. It is a coming-of-age drama of a young boy who lives with his older sister Samantha (Lorelei Linklater), and single mother, Olivia (Patricia Arquette) who is divorced from his father Mason Sr. (Ethan Hawke who is so awesome...).

The story follows his progress into his teenage years and all the things that happen around him along the way. He becomes an intelligent, artistic young man, interested in photography (and quite good at it too). He falls in love, falls out of love. Ellar Coltrane is fantastic as Mason and the amount of dedication this film must have taken is the most amazing thing about it and is so obvious.

The film is impressive on a scale that films with budgets three times its size ($4 million) can never achieve. It is a well-thought out story shocking in how real it is.

Richard Linklater and his team deserve the six Oscar nominations this film garnered and more.
